Email sending is not working, although the settings are correct. What can I do?

Several factors could prevent email sending:

• By GMail application password should be used instead of the login password.
• The server's SMTP settings might be incorrectly configured in the Email module settings.
• Antivirus software may be blocking the email sending.
• A firewall may be blocking the email sending.
• The server might not allow access (for Gmail, you can find instructions on settings here).
• There could be an issue if your machine is using IPv6.

• In your antivirus program, allow the software to send emails on the configured port number.
• Allow the configured port in the firewall.
• On the server, enable connection through the SMTP protocol.

Two common issues prevent email sending

• An app password is not set up in your Google Account.
• The antivirus email filter is blocking it.

By default, Gmail blocks connections made with the traditional SMTP protocol. To lift this restriction, log into your Gmail account's security settings and create an app password for the program you want to use.

Create & use app passwords

Important: To create an app password, you need 2-Step Verification on your Google Account.

If you use 2-Step-Verification and get a "password incorrect" error when you sign in, you can try to use an app password.

1. Go to your Google Account.
2. Select Security.
3. Under "Signing in to Google," select 2-Step Verification.
4. At the bottom of the page, select App passwords.
5. Enter a name that helps you remember where you’ll use the app password.
6. Select Generate.
7. To enter the app password, follow the instructions on your screen. The app password is the 16-character code that generates on your device.
   Select Done. It's important to enter the password into the program without any spaces. If we simply copy and paste it, the spaces will be included, and it will not work.
